Xeroform Gauze Dressing has ingredients of finely woven mesh gauze infused with a blend of petrolatum and 3% Bismuth Tribromophenate. This is a sterile single use device. It is used for open wounds such as lacerations, burns, new circumcision, nowadays for postoperative breast cancer, as well as surgical incisions and skin grafts. This kind of gauze is particularly useful as a dressing because it is non-adhesive, this means it won't stick to the wound. Moreover, it has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, which help prevent the wound from getting infected. Xeroform is a popular dressing because it is easy to use and can effectively treat many different types of open wounds.

Applications

Contraindications
  1. Not for heavy exuding wounds
  2. Avoid in patients with Bismuth hypersensitivity

Instructions for use
  1. Carefully clean the wound and its surrounding area with sterile water or

saline solution and dry the surrounding skin gently.

  1. Open foil envelope by peeling edges down from arrow sufficiently to allow aseptic removal of the dressing with sterile forceps.
  2. To unfold dressing, grasp both ends with sterile forceps and pull apart or cut with

sterile scissors to meet specific size requirements.

  1. An appropriate absorbent secondary layer should be used to secure the Xeroform

gauze dressing.
  1. Petrolatum helps maintain a moist wound environment.
  2. Bismuth acts as an antiseptic, providing antimicrobial protection and reducing infection risk.
  3. Gentle on delicate skin, this non-adherent gauze minimizes pain during dressing changes.
  4. Finely woven mesh gauze, occlusive yet breathable.
