Features

Silicone Wound Contact Dressing is a sterile low-adherent impregnated sterile dressing which facilitates dressing change and helps maintain a moist environment to support wound healing. It is made with a conformable, open mesh structure and gentle silicone adhesive. The dressings are used to facilitate fluid transfer and provide fixation and protection to the wound bed during dressing changes. It is a primary dressing used as a protective barrier between the wound and outer dressing for dry to heavily exudative partial- and full-thickness wounds such as: venous, pressure, and neuropathic ulcers, traumatic wounds such as abrasions, cuts and lacerations, surgical wounds and first- and second-degree burns. Also for use on skin tears with flaps as it provides safe securement of approximated flap.

Applications

It is a versatile wound contact dressing that can be used on many exuding wounds when used with an outer absorbent dressing. Typical exuding wounds include: Painful wounds, Skin tears, Skin abrasions, blistering, lacerations, and traumatic wounds, Surgical wounds, Partial thickness burns, Partial and full thickness grafts,  Radiated skin, Leg and foot ulcers. It can also be used as protective layer on non-exuding wounds and on areas with fragile skin.

Instructions

  1. Clean the wound in accordance with clinical practice and dry the surrounding skin.
  2. Choose a size allowing at least 2cm overlap on normal skin around the actual wound. To adjust the size it can be cut prior to applying to the wound. For larger wounds more overlap is required. If more than one piece of the dressing is required, overlap the dressing, making sure that the holes are not blocked.
  3. Grab and remove the release film. Apply the silicone contact dressing to the wound.
  4. Remove the remaining release film and smooth the dressing in place onto the surrounding skin, ensuring a good seal.
  5. Avoid stretching the dressing during the application. It can be lifted from the skin and reapplied if needed. Gels can be added on top of or under the layer.
  6. Apply a secondary absorbent dressing on top of the silicone contact dressing. Use appropriate material to fixate the secondary absorbent dressing.
  7. The silicone contact dressing can be used during compression treatment.

Cautions

  5. When used on bleeding wounds or wounds with high viscosity exudates, the product should be covered with a moist absorbent dressing pad.
  6. When the product is used for the fixation of skin grafts, the dressing should not be changed before the fifth day post application.
  7. Do not reuse. If reused, performance of the product may deteriorate, cross contamination may occur.
  8. Sterile. Do not use if inner package is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not re-sterilize.
  9. If redness, swelling, heat or pain occurs on the wound, discontinue use immediately and contact a qualified healthcare professional.
  10. Do not litter. The product must be disposed as infectious medical waste.
  1. Non adherent (Adheres only to dry surrounding skin not to a moist wound)
